25aug12:00 pm1:00 pmASHE Presents A Chemist’s Perspective on Ionizers and Air Cleaners

Event Details

This August 25 webinar will cover recent research in ionization and other chemically additive technology and discuss what is known and what is not yet established in peer-reviewed literature about how well these devices work in real-world settings and their potential unintended chemical consequences.

An array of air-cleaning devices are available on the market, many using chemical additives like ozone, OH radicals and ions. However, the efficacy of these devices and their potential for byproduct formation is rarely studied in peer-reviewed literature. This presentation will cover recent research in ionization and other chemically additive technology and discuss what is known and what is not yet established in peer-reviewed literature about how well these devices work in real-world settings and their potential unintended chemical consequences.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Explain the theory of how ions are thought to work in air-cleaning devices.
  • Explore recent peer-reviewed literature on the efficacy and potential for byproduct formation from ions and other chemically additive cleaners.
  • Compare peer-reviewed research on different air-cleaning technologies.

Speaker(s):

  • Delphine Farmer, PhD, Associate Professor, Colorado State University

This webinar offers 1 CEC:

  • CHFM 2 & 3
  • CHC 2
